Arvind Sundar (1993, Coimbatore) completed his Masters in Painting and Drawing from the University of Cincinnati, USA (2018). He attained a Prior Degree course at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, USA (2016) and Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication, Loyola College, Chennai (2014). He is the recipient of the Wolstein travel fellowship for the year 2017. He traveled across Italy on the fellowship studying renaissance painting and sculpture. He was awarded the Presidential Scholarship of the School of the art institute of Chicago for the year 2015. He is also the recipient of the Graduate Assistant Scholarship (100% Scholarship) at the University of Cincinnati. He was awarded the outstanding student of the batch for the academic year 2016-18 by the School of Art, University of Cincinnati. From 2019 to 2021 he was an Assistant Professor of Drawing and Film at Loyola college, Chennai. He also runs a graphic design firm Urue Design studio focusing on visuals and graphics of Tamil culture. He has held solo shows at the 840 Gallery, Cincinnati (2016/2017/2018) and several groups show at the Cholamandal Artist Village, Chennai (2019), Thundersky Inc, Cincinnati, USA (2018 and 2019), Secret Artworks, Cincinnati (2018), Carnegie Art Center, Covington, Kentucky, USA (2018) Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai (2019), Priyashri Gallery(2019), Floating canvas Company(2020- 21), etc. He has taken part in more than 40 shows across the globe. His work primarily revolves around the concept of the geometry of the grid and its role in the human condition. Right now, he practices art from his hometown of Coimbatore.
