"Rising with the Sun" is a poetic exploration of spiritual ascension and the delicate interplay between effort and grace. The painting features a bird—a symbol of the soul—rising effortlessly against the thermal air currents. The bird’s form is rendered in precisely, while the thermal currents are expressed through ink strokes inspired from the Japanese calligraphic traditions of capturing the essence of a subject. A single, vibrant spot of red ink symbolizes the sun, its warmth, energy, and divine essence illuminating the scene and the soul's path. The composition is deliberately minimalist, allowing viewers to feel the space, movement, and energy of the subject. The beauty of the painting lies in its simplicity.

Curators Recommendation

The painting draws on the natural phenomenon of thermal currents, where the sun’s heat creates rising columns of air. The bird, a metaphor for the human soul, soars higher not through force but by aligning itself with these currents. This becomes a powerful symbol of spiritual growth: achieving greater heights by harmonizing with the forces of nature and the divine. It reminds us of the sun's essential role—not just in sustaining life, but as a source of spiritual energy and enlightenment. The interplay of the black and red ink evokes the duality of effort and surrender, as well as the balance between earthly existence and higher aspirations.
